CESA Gold Award 2011

California Emergency Services Association has honored OperationOC with the 2011 Gold Award for its collaboration with the Inter-Canyon League and OneOC to meet the needs of Silverado Canyon residents following the devastating rain of December 2010 and resulting mudslides. These three agencies rallied assistance and support from over 50 volunteer agencies to provide much needed support to the canyon areas of Orange County.

Vicki Osborn, Assistant Emergency Manager for Orange County, stated, “The assistance provided included volunteer labor from 850 people, meals, supplies, equipment and monetary donations with a value of over $800,000.  The joint effort launched on December 28, 2010 and continued in the field until March 5, 2011 at 170 different identified sites assisting canyon residents with debris removal and property clean-up.  This collaboration of non-profit agencies affords a model of cooperation and organization that serves as a best practice for communities throughout California.”
